Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, has urged Delta State Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to run for president in 2023.
On Sunday, he issued a statement in Abuja headed, “2023: Elumelu urges Gov. Okowa to run for President,” which was signed by his Senior Legislative Aide, Tony Ayaegbunam.
Elumelu addressed at the installation of Rotary Club’s 2nd President for the 2021/2022 Rotary Club Year on Saturday in Asaba, Delta State’s capital, according to the release (Club of Asaba Downtown District 9141).
“Okowa is gifted with the capacity and proficiencies to rescue the country from the misrule of the All Progressives Congress and place it on the path of peace, unity, and economic prosperity,” Elumelu was reported as saying.
“I must applaud Governor Okowa for his selfless devotion and sacrifices, which have resulted in unprecedented tremendous infrastructure development in our dear state, as well as a higher standard of living for our people.
“Governor Okowa is a rare gift to not only Delta State, but also Nigeria as a whole. I am convinced that he possesses the aptitude and abilities to serve our country at the highest level, and that he will be able to emulate the achievements our state at the national level.
“I respectfully request that he make himself available to serve the country once more. He is deserving of becoming President of the United States in 2023.”
Elumelu criticized the APC government for the country’s current plight, which includes “escalated mass massacres, senseless bloodletting, terrorism, banditry, infrastructural ruin, acute poverty, excruciating economic misery, and total hopelessness.”
“I, therefore, appeal to all Nigerians to join hands in the collective democratic efforts to free our country from the grip of the APC,” he stated.
