Simon Lalong, the Governor of Plateau State and chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is paving the way for additional governors from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) (PDP).
The governor, who said he was one of the founding members of the PDP, said it was a mistake to join the party and that the APC is the best party that has come to redeem Nigerians.
The governor revealed this yesterday in Shendam, where he launched local government election campaigns and presented APC flags to 17 local government chairmanship candidates ahead of the state’s October 9 elections.
“Some people were making noise that APC is a dead party,” Lalong added, “but as far as we are concerned, we have not seen any governor, senator, or member of the House of Representatives jumping from APC to PDP, but rather many of them, including former ministers, are now coming into APC.”
He claimed that the APC was busy laying the groundwork for additional PDP governors, senators, and representatives to defect to the party ahead of the 2023 general election.
When the State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) announced the LG elections, Governor Lalong said the opposition PDP felt his administration was joking.
“Some people believe we will not hold the LG elections, but I have stated that with the grace of God, we will.”
