Anthony Martial has been blamed for Manchester United’s poor performance against West Ham United in the Carabao Cup last night.
Dion Dublin, a former United striker, criticized the Frenchman’s performance in their 1-0 loss to the Hammers.
The Red Devils have been knocked out of the League Cup at the first hurdle, with Manuel Lanzini’s goal at Old Trafford deciding the game.
With Cristiano Ronaldo resting, Mason Greenwood among the substitutes, and Edinson Cavani still working his way back to full fitness, Martial was handed his second start of the season.
The Frenchman, on the other hand, did not take use of his opportunity, and Dublin claims that his (Martial) body language was “awful to behold.”
Dublin told BBC Radio 5 Live, “We need to see more from Anthony Martial, we have stated it many times before, but he is not helping his cause.”
“I’d like to see him sweating and putting the ball in the net.
“Since joining United, he hasn’t done enough; you see sparks and believe it’s the start, but then he doesn’t do anything.
“His body language is deplorable to observe; he doesn’t want to sprint about and work hard to become Manchester United’s number nine.”
