The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, has urged the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) to end their strike.
Instead of striking, Abubakar asked NARD members to engage in talks.
According to NAN, he made the request at the 20th Conference of the National Pediatric Surgeons of Nigeria (APSON) on Friday in Sokoto.
Doctors should consult with the government employing elders, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders, according to the monarch.

“Doctors must also respect the court order to restart work in the national interest,” he said.
The strike, according to Abubakar, should be the “last choice in settling industrial conflict, especially for medical employees whose mission is to save citizens’ lives.”
