The Federal Executive Council (FEC) authorized N1.039 billion in contract variations in the ministries of health and water resources Wednesday.
Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, made the announcement following a federal cabinet meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday.
According to Mohammed, the revised estimate cost for the consultants managing the Bagwai Water Dam Irrigation project in Kano State’s Bagwai Local Government Area was approved at N203 million.
“As a result, it was increased from N98,000,000 to N203,000,000. As a result, the overall cost of the consulting has increased to N302,875,379.”
The council also approved an upward review of the contract for the emergency supply, installation, and maintenance of the 38 oxygen plants across the country, worth N836 million, according to the minister.
“The Minister of Health also presented a note requesting an upward assessment for the emergency supply, installation, and maintenance of the 38 oxygen plants located throughout the country,” he stated. You may recall that the FEC approved the payment of N5.615 billion to four major contractors in June for the emergency supply, installation, and maintenance of 38 oxygen plants around the country.
“Unfortunately, the four enterprises have just returned with the same issues, ranging from currency fluctuations to material scarcity around the world as a result of COVID-19.
“As a result, he presented a letter for N836 million in augmentation, which was also accepted today.”
The FEC also accepted the United Nations Tourism Organization’s Framework Convention on Tourism Ethics 2020, according to Mohammed.
He stated that the Kwagh-Hir Theatrical Performance had been included to the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO’s officials.
Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Minister of State for Education, said the council granted N121 million for the renovation of some old equipment and furnishings at the Federal Polytechnic in Bauchi.
