Kanu Nwankwo to appear before court on Nov 11 over N924m debt

The Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has filed a complaint in the Federal High Court in Lagos, seeking to recover a supposed N924 million debt owed by Hardley Apartments, which is owned by former Super Eagles captain Nwankwo Kanu.

Justice Aneke, who set the date for Tuesday, said she would hear all of the parties’ ongoing applications on that day.

Hardley Apartments and its Director, Ayoola Gam-Ikon, were named as the first and second defendants in the lawsuit filed by AMCON in 2015.

The case was reopened on Tuesday, and AMCON’s attorney, Jayes Ujah, told Justice Aneke that the matter had been set for trial, but that the defendants and their counsel were not present.

The court then informed him that he had been sent a letter written by the attorney to the second defendant, Uche Clement, for him to read.

After reading the letter, the lawyer stated that he does not object to the defendants’ counsel’s request for an adjournment.

As a result of this, Justice Aneke delayed the case to November 11 to hear all remaining applications.
