The Rivers State Police Command announced that its detectives disrupted a car-snatching ring and detained one of the offenders, Nnali Osita, who is known for robbing bolt/uber drivers throughout the state.
Nnamdi Omoni, a spokesman for the state police command, said the accomplishment was accomplished while responding to a case of car hijacking reported by a Bolt driver named Yusuf Ogunshola.
In a statement released on Thursday, Omoni claimed Bolt was hired from Effurun in Delta State and brought to Port Harcourt, only to be led to Abel Jumbo Street in Diobu’s Mile Two axis, where two other members were already waiting.
“On arrival, the Bolt driver was assaulted at gunpoint and stripped of his personal items, including the sum of #87,000 from his bank account,” according to the statement.
“He was then imprisoned in a toilet belonging to a nearby New Generation Church.

“During the course of our investigation, our investigators discovered some indications that led them to Gambia Street in Diobu, where they finalised plans to sell the sar.
“However, upon seeing the police, they abandoned the car and fled, but the suspect, Nnali Osita, was not so fortunate, as he was apprehended while the others escaped.
“Efforts have been stepped up to apprehend the fleeing gang members and recover their functioning weapons.
“The Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday, has vowed to go after all miscreants in the state, and is hereby asking all Bolt/Uber or anyone in the transportation business to be cautious and avoid all mouth-watering promises, as these criminals’ antics to attack their victims.”
