In Onicha-Ugbo Community in Aniocha North Local Government Area, the Delta State Anti-Cult Unit, SACU, stopped an initiation process of the Aiye Confraternity a.k.a. Black Axe.
During the initiation, the police also apprehended ten alleged cultists in the jungle.
Two of the suspects were found with a locally built revolver weapon, four live and one spent 9mm ammunition, and two expended cartridges.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Command, commanded by CP Ari Muhammed Ali, confirmed the report.
“Some weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, one Honda accord car with Reg no. Lagos KSF 586 DU, five motorcycles, and a bag containing clothes were recovered from the scene,” the police image maker added.
The suspects will be charged in court as soon as the inquiry is completed, according to DSP Edafe.
In another raid, Delta State Crack Squad agents detained a 37-year-old man, Akpofure Lucky, in Eri Community near Oleh in the state’s Isoko South Local Government Area, with a locally-made pistol and three live cartridges.
The suspect, who was claimed to have confessed to being a Vikings confraternity member, was apprehended by police during a search on criminal hideouts.
