Edna Worleru, a prophetess who was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by a high court in Rivers State last week Thursday, has died.
Justice Adolphus Enebeli sentenced her to prison, and she died while serving her sentence.
The deceased, a prophetess with a church in Rumuche community in Emohua Local Government Area of the state, was sentenced to life in prison for preparing a “poisonous” substance in the name of love portion for one Onyema Bright to administer on her man-friend, late Isreal Georgewill, who was also a prophet in another church in the community.

Chidi Ekeh, the state prosecutor’s office, verified the prophetess’ death on Monday, saying she died last week Saturday following a brief illness.
The deceased’s body, however, remained the property of the federal government and could not be released to the family, according to the lawyer.
He continued, “She was convicted on Thursday, and by Friday she was sick, so they brought her to the hospital, and she never came back.”
“The people are trying to see if they can get the body out of prison to bury it, but it will be a difficult effort because she is still the property of the federal government.
She hasn’t been released, and she will continue to serve her sentence even if she dies again.”
