Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel criticized his players as slow and fatigued after losing 1-0 to Juventus in a Champions League group stage encounter on Wednesday.
During the dismal loss to the struggling Italians, the German stated that his team was not “good enough.”
10 minutes into the second half, Federico Bernardeschi set up Federico Chiesa for a neatly completed goal that gave Juve all three points.
The German coach was upset with the goal his squad conceded as his team battled to break down the Juventus defense.
“At this level, conceding a goal like this is unthinkable. After the game, the German manager said, “We know what’s coming, and we got punished for it.”
“We didn’t start off strong enough; the first 10-15 minutes should’ve been considerably stronger, with more threatening balls in the box.
“We had two important ball losses where we were on the verge of giving up goals. Because they were so deep, we struggled to find our own beat.
“We weren’t good enough; we were slow, weary, and psychologically slow in making decisions; it’s an odd one to analyze.”
Following their 1-0 loss to Manchester City in the Premier League over the weekend, Chelsea has now lost back-to-back games.
