Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has suggested that the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential ticket be zoned to the Southeast.
Ikpeazu noted that because the Southeast has yet to produce a president for Nigeria, the PDP should allocate its ticket to the region.
In the spirit of fairness and justice, he also stated that allocating the presidential ticket to the Southeast was the proper thing to do.
With the PDP’s chairmanship zoning to the north, Ikpeazu claimed that the presidential seat should be zoned to the southeast.
“The PDP has spelled out our zoning possibilities, and it states that the party’s chairmanship should go to the North in 2023.
“As an individual, I believe that the weight of equity and justice favors the president from the South, and when we come to the South, we determine which zone has yet to produce a president and award the ticket to that zone,” he explained.
Last Monday, the previous ruling party zoned its National Chairmanship to the north.
The decision was made by the PDP’s National Executive Council (NEC) in Abuja.
