Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi has stated that the Southeast should not be left out of Nigeria’s leadership.
The Igbo will be a part of a fair and equitable Nigeria, not a breakaway Biafra, according to Umahi.
On Friday, he addressed at an interdenominational prayer conference in Abakaliki.
The Governor demanded that Nigerians treat Igbos fairly.
The Igbo, according to Umahi, should be given an opportunity at leadership in 2023 since they are willing to unite and keep Nigeria peaceful.
The Chairman of the Southeast Governors Forum stated that the region, like other zones, should be evaluated for improved leadership chances.
“We want to belong to Nigeria,” Umahi says. We want to be a part of a Nigeria that is just and equal.
“There is no need for anyone to be terrified of us. We shall work with God to bring this country’s peace back. We shall cooperate with the people for the country’s love and unity.
“Give us a chance, and treat us fairly, for we have contributed greatly to the development of our country.”
“What is beneficial to other regions should also be beneficial to the South-East.”
“And let me be clear: zoning or no zoning, party or no party, the South-East cannot be kept out of this country’s affairs.”
