The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has stated that the zoning of the party’s presidential ticket may lead to the party’s demise.
Party leaders should be cautious while zoning the party’s presidential ticket and other elected seats, according to Walid Jibrin, Chairman of the PDP BoT.
He made the announcement while speaking to press at the PDP’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
Jibrin stated that the PDP Board of Trustees was ready to support the party’s leadership in maintaining peace in the run-up to the election.
“We are not yet talking about zoning of the offices of the President, Vice President, Senate President, or Speaker of the House of Representatives,” Jibrin says.
“Zoning has the potential to derail or destroy our party. However, by God’s grace, we will not allow that to happen.
“What I can say is that we should never get personal because if we do, we will end up with a problem of disunity.”
“Today, the Board of Trustees convened as part of our ongoing commitment to bring peace and harmony to this party.”
