Ogunka Adiele, the Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, has defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
Adiele, a founding member of the APC, hails from the state’s Abia South Senatorial District’s Ukwa West Local Government Area.
Stakeholders in the APC in Ukwa West and throughout the state have reacted angrily to his unexpected defection to the PDP.
This was revealed in a press release made available to journalists in Umuahia on Monday, in relation to the party’s Ukwa West chapter’s ongoing political events.
The stakeholders in the APC in Ukwa West complimented members for their persistent and outstanding demonstration of seriousness in topics relating to the party’s development in the local area, such as the recent defection of the State Deputy Chairman to the PDP in Abia.
One of the leaders of the APC in the Ukwa West local government area, Barrister Sam Ogbonna, claimed during the Stakeholders meeting that the defection of the state Deputy Chairman would not imperil the party’s chances in the area.
Ogbonna emphasized that the party would go on regardless of who left, with a spirit of unity and love.
Also speaking, another Party leader, Pastor Dike Nwankwo, charged the members to remain unwavering towards the course of the party, which includes securing win incoming election and as well, sustain the unity of the party in the local government area, especially as the state congress draws nearer.
On his part, Party chieftain, Mr. ThankGod Ntaku, thanked the stakeholders for keeping faith with the party, and harped on the need for mutual respect, which he opined, should be the key for smooth running of any administration.
