The newly established “Operations Golden Dawn” in South East Nigeria, according to Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, may be the All Progressives Congress, APC’s tool to edge out the other political parties in the November 6th governorship election in Anambra State.
The Nigerian Army has been urged by Ohanaeze to guarantee that human rights violations are not part of its operations in the region.
The organization also urged the Federal Government and governors in the South East to ensure that the Nigerian Army follows the rules of engagement and maintains high levels of professionalism based on military ethics.
In a statement issued by its Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Ohanaeze said that the previous operation Python Dances was to blame for the heightened violence and instability in the South East.
According to the statement, “Ndigbo are foreseeing difficulties and tensions as if there is a secret objective tied to the newly created Operations Golden Dawn.”
“Politicians should not be allowed to bring the military into the governorship elections in Anambra on November 6th.
“Innuendos abound that the APC crafted well crafted scripts for the Anambra elections, involving the employment of the military to oust the PDP and APGA.
“Ndi Anambra should climb to the top of the game and defend their votes, as Igbos are monitoring how Governor Hope Uzodinma’s APC National Council for Anambra Election will try to use all possibilities, even military forces for the election,” says Ndi Anambra.
“The ugliest experiences of Python Dance’s previous operation in the past should not be repeated.
Intimidation, harassing of passengers and vehicles, killings and disposal of bodies of suspected Biafra agitators, particularly IPOB members, in the bushes, and wrongful detention of innocent persons typified the South East.
“We anticipate that the Golden Dawn activities will have a human face, free of ethnic cleansing and dishonesty.”
