The online video of a man hanging an AK-47 rifle allegedly belonging to him, according to the Minister of Defense, retired Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi, is “mischievous.”
In a statement released on Sunday, Muhammad Abdulkadri, the minister’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, stated that the narrative must be countered.
According to Abdulkadri, the genuine identity of the guy in the video has been revealed.
“To say that the individual in the video is General Magashi is inaccurate and misleading,” he stated.
“Findings have established that the individual in the video is the rector of a Nigerian Army college.
“The rector is statutorily allowed in the military to sign for weapons when traveling because of his command and position.”
The Army green color on the vehicle shown in the video, as well as the unit sticker on the official car, are enough evidence, according to Abdulkadri, to refute the video’s false claim.
He also stated that the car referred to as the official car in the video is not the minister’s official vehicle.
