Fire destroys goods worth millions in Anambra

On Sunday, a fire at Nkwo Ogbe Market in Ihiala, Anambra State’s Ihiala Local Government Area, damaged products worth billions of naira.

According to Metro Times, the fire began in the afternoon of October 17, 2021.

The market, according to community sources, is one of the largest and most densely populated in the area.

The cause of the fire, however, has not been determined at the time of submitting this report.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, has expressed his condolences to the market traders.

With much sadness, Ozigbo said he received the heartbreaking news of the fire outbreak this Sunday afternoon.

“This is another tragedy in a series of market fires in which our people have lost millions of naira and there is no emergency service in sight, whether it is the Anambra State Fire Service, medical services, or other emergency services.”

“I offer my condolences to Ndi Ihiala, who has endured tremendous and terrible suffering.

“I understand your anguish, and I’ll be there shortly to analyze the situation.”

“By the grace of God, the suffering of our people caused by an ineffective, dysfunctional, and insensitive administration will soon be over,” he stated.
