The Imo State government, led by Governor Hope Uzodinma, has rectified an inaccuracy in recent media reports that cast the Imo State government and President Muhammadu Buhari in a negative light over the Nekede / Ihiagwa / Obinze road.
“For clarity’s sake, the road in question was awarded in phases, and phase one has been completed and commissioned, while construction work on the next phase (Phase Two) would commence after the rains, and subsequently, the last phase,” the 3R government said in Owerri on Tuesday in response to the reports.
“While the Government understands the hardships and pains experienced by residents and road users at phases two and three of the road, it is improper and unpatriotic for anyone to falsely propagate that the Nekede / Ihiagwa / Obinze road has not received Government attention,” according to a shared prosperity source.
“The Imo State Government has continued to improve the state of our infrastructure, which will reach every corner,” according to the statement.
“Gov Uzodinna has fulfilled his promise to the people of Owerri,” several villagers stated during the commissioning ceremony of phase 1 of the Nekede, Ihiagwa, Obinze 14KM road connecting two federal institutions and three communities in the area.
Many people questioned that it would be feasible when I prophesied this previous rainy season, but our governor has returned the faith of our people today,” said Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi, Member Representing Owerri West State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, IMHA.
After the rains, the IMHA Majority Leader promised that Phase Two of the 3R government project will begin.
