Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), warned troops on Friday to stay attentive and vigilant.
The COAS made the charge while addressing instructors at Depot Nigerian Army, Nigerian Military School (NMS), Directorate of Army Physical Training (DAPT), and Army School of Physical Training, according to Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations (ASPT).
According to him, the current security difficulties require everyone to be attentive, and he urged them to act professionally while sticking to the rules of engagement and normal operating procedures.
He informed the troops that he has placed a high priority on the welfare of officers, soldiers, and their families since taking command, and that intentional actions are being done to alleviate the issues related with lodging in Chindit Cantonment.
He went on to say that he went on the assessment tour to get firsthand information on the amount of rehabilitation work going on in the cantonment as a proof of his resolve. He reiterated that under his leadership, welfare will continue to receive the attention it deserves.
The COAS congratulated troops for their selfless service and urged them to maintain the flag flying in defense of their country and service to humanity, according to the statement.
This, he continued, is important to justify the President’s and Commander-in-faith Chief’s in the military.
