Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State swore in three newly appointed high court judges on Tuesday.
Hon. Justice Abubakar Suleiman Ibrahim and Hon. Justice Sulayman Abdullahi, two of the new judges, were previously the Chief Registrar of the High Court and the Secretary of the State Judicial Service Commission, respectively, until their appointment.
Hon. Justice Aminu Ali Eri, the third, was a Magistrate with the Federal Capital Territory High Court of Justice.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Chief Edward Onoja, expressed confidence in the new judges, stressing that their track record of competence will serve as a guide in their new role.
Following the development, the state’s Hon. Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Richard Olorunju Olorunfemi, approved the appointments of Barr. Clement Kejere as Chief Registrar of the High Court and Barr. Joseph Sunday Ajesola as Secretary of the Judicial Service Commission.
Meanwhile, the newly-appointed judges will be introduced to the Kogi State branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) tomorrow, October 6, 2021, at the Kogi State judiciary headquarters.
