Raphael Varane will be out for a few weeks after suffering a groin injury while on international duty, according to Manchester United.
Varane was substituted in the first half of Spain’s 2-1 victory on Sunday.
After returning to Manchester on Monday, the 28-year-old was seen by club medics.
The defender will be sidelined for a time, according to tests.
“Raphael Varane injured his groin muscle in the UEFA Nations League final and has begun recovery at the club.” He’ll be out for a few weeks, according to a United statement.
The news would be a further setback for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who already has captain Harry Maguire out.
Maguire has missed the last two fixtures with a calf problem and will likely not be fit to face Leicester City on Saturday.
