Lionel Messi, the forward for Paris Saint-Germain, has listed three factors that influenced his decision to join the club from Barcelona.
Messi joined Mauricio Pochettino’s side because of the club’s project, its players, and the quality of the PSG group, according to Messi.
The Argentine captain also stated that he is quite happy at PSG and that he has no regrets about his decision to join the Ligue 1 giants.
Remember that Messi, one of the favorites to win the Ballon d’Or this year, departed Barcelona for PSG during the summer transfer window.
“I started to wonder how I was going to bounce back when Barca published the statement suggesting I wasn’t going to continue,” Messi told France.
“In order to continue my career, I needed to locate a new club.” I was fortunate enough to be approached by a number of clubs, including PSG. I am grateful to the club because they have always treated me with respect.
“They demonstrated that they cared about me by taking care of me. I am grateful to them since I am in a good mood today. Other offers came in, but… we quickly came to an agreement with PSG.
“I was obviously won over by the project, its players, the group’s quality… all of these factors made it easier to come to an agreement.
“Knowing that I had friends in the locker room allowed me to tell myself that things were going to be simple for me to adjust. And I was not wrong, because it was very easy to integrate myself, especially because there are many players who speak Spanish like me.”
