Newcastle’s new owners may fire manager Steve Bruce this week.
According to SportsMail, Bruce’s presence in the bench could have a negative impact on the team’s performance against Tottenham Hotspur.
The 60-year-old would be compensated in the region of £8 million.
Amanda Staveley, the club’s director, already has a shortlist of Bruce’s potential replacements, although the hiring could take some time.
Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Leicester City, and Steven Gerrard, the manager of Rangers, are both on the list.
Current assistant head coach, Graeme Jones, is set to be put in temporary charge for the Spurs game.
