Adebayo Akinrinoye, a 52-year-old father from Ogun State, has been detained for allegedly defiling his 16-year-old daughter.
On September 23, the culprit was allegedly apprehended at Kabiru close, Idi Oparun bus stop, Matogun, Agbado, Ogun State.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, an Ogun Police Public Relations Officer, said the suspect was apprehended after the victim filed a written plea with the Agbado division.
According to Oyeyemi, the daughter claimed in the petition that her father had been sexually assaulting her for two years, starting when she was 14.
“She further added that all of her efforts to prevent her father from committing this heinous act had fallen on deaf ears, thus her report,” Oyeyemi said.
In response to the appeal, CSP Kehinde Kuranga, the Divisional Police Officer in Agbado, reportedly dispatched his men to the scene, where the culprit was quickly apprehended.
“During interrogation, Oyeyemi said the suspect admitted to the crime but appealed with his daughter for forgiveness,” Oyeyemi added.
Edward Ajogun, the State Commissioner of Police, has ordered the suspect’s immediate transfer to the Ota Area Command’s family support section for further investigation and prosecution.
