“While carrying out robbery operation in Ilese Ijebu,” police in Ogun State nabbed a suspect, Bolanle Ojomu, on Friday.
The culprit was apprehended when police at Ilese Ijebu division received a distress call about 12:30 a.m., according to Ogun Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Oyeyemi.
Residents of Silva Estate in the Odomalasa district of Ilese were being terrorized by armed thieves, according to the police.
Following the distress call, Oyeyemi stated that the DPO of Ilese Ijebu, CSP Amuda Bolaji, promptly mobilized a patrol unit and raced to the robbery location.
When the hoodlums saw the cops, they fled quickly, according to Oyeyemi, who added that “they were aggressively pursued and one of the suspects was captured with the help of members of the community, while others escaped.”
The guy was found with one locally produced gun and one live ammunition.
Meanwhile, DCP Abiodun Alamutu, the Acting Commissioner of Police in Ogun, has ordered the suspect’s immediate transfer to the State CIID for additional investigation, as well as a large manhunt for the gang’s fleeing members.
