The youth wing of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo has encouraged Igbo leaders meeting in Enugu tomorrow, Tuesday, to make the subject of a Nigerian President of Igbo descent a top priority.
Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the National President of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, OYC, revealed this in a statement made available to Metro Times.
The Igbo leaders are set to gather in Enugu to discuss, among other things, the deteriorating security situation in the zone.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Okwu stated that the main takeaway should be the formation of a committee to support the much-discussed Igbo presidency.
“We have passed the era of so much rhetoric but no action,” he said. If Ndigbo are serious about assuming the country’s top seat, now is the moment for them to break out of their shell.
“We say this because power isn’t given; it’s taken, and now is the time for our people to seize the initiative and seize the power.

“The Igbo leaders’ meeting should not end without the establishment of a committee to oversee the process and ensure that there is unity of purpose, coordination of ideas, and consensus.”
“We must put all adversaries of Ndigbo to shame who say we will never be one. Allow everyone to step up to the plate, because this is our chance,” he continued.
