Police arrests kidnappers after demanding N5m to release abducted child

Two guys have been detained for reportedly kidnapping a toddler in Adamawa State and demanding N5 million in exchange for the child’s return.

The suspects, Muhammed, 28, and Aliyu Alhaji Aliyu, 55, allegedly kidnapped the eight-year-old boy on Monday night and demanded N5 million in ransom from his parents.

The suspects, who are claimed to be citizens of Niger State’s Lambata Local Government Area, were apprehended by the State Police Command in Adamawa State.

The suspects were apprehended on the 3rd of October, 2021, by the command’s operatives connected to the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) in Yola, according to a statement by the command’s image-maker, DSP Suleiman Nguroje.

The agents acted on a report filed by the abducted boy’s father, Alhaji Hamisu Sule, a resident of Lafiya village in Fufore LGA, on October 1, 2021, according to Nguroje.

The suspects took the youngster to Niger State and demanded a ransom from there, according to Nguroje, but the police were able to track down the perpetrators at the site of ransom collection in Adamawa State and rescue the boy.
