CP Rabiu Hussaini, the Commissioner of Police for Imo State Command, has vowed to find the culprits of the horrific attack on traditional rulers in Imo State’s Njaba Local Government Area.
The CP responded to the report on Wednesday in Owerri by saying that the command is looking into all options to ensure that the fleeing bandits are apprehended and convicted.
“Following information acquired yesterday at about 1500 hours, hoodlums suspected of being members of the outlawed IPOB/ESN are storming the location where the transitional chairman of Njaba local government was holding a meeting with some transitional rulers,” he said.
He said the command immediately dispatched its tactical teams, which included the Special Forces, Rapid Response Squad, and Anti-Kidnapping Squad, to the scene, but two traditional rulers, HRH Eze S. C Osunwa of Ihebinowere Autonomous Community and HRH Eze Barr A. E Durueburuo of Okwudor Autonomous Community, died in the attack, while HRH Eze A. N Onyeka (JP
“It is on record that the police station in Njaba was recently attacked and raised down by hoodlums suspected of being IPOB/ ESN terror organizations, with two police officers losing their lives,” the CP added.
As a result, the command had to dispatch police officers to the area on vehicle patrols to assist in the prevention of crime and criminality. “Pending the construction of a new police station.”
While commiserating with the families of those who had died, Husseini urged everyone to follow the law and go about their lawful business.
He reassured Imolites that the command was committed to apprehending and prosecuting those responsible for the horrible atrocity.
