Thiago Silva will not be able to play against Brentford on October 16 after returning from international duty with the Brazil national team, according to Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.
After the international break, Chelsea will play Brentford in an away Premier League match, but Silva will miss the match because he will be in South America for Brazil’s World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela, Colombia, and Uruguay.
The final game of the triple-header, Brazil’s home match against Uruguay in Manaus, will not begin until 01:30 a.m. BST on Friday.
According to Chelsea’s official website, Tuchel said of Silva, “He will depart and then he will play for Brazil and then he will come back on the matchday at Brentford.”
“This is international breaks’ life, this is international breaks’ scenario in 2021.
“What can I do, like it or not? Is this a viable option for our club? No. We can’t stop him, though.
“It’s impossible; if they call, he has to leave. He will be suspended from FIFA if he does not comply.
“We don’t have a choice; it’s something we have to live with.”
Chelsea, meanwhile, is currently leading the Premier League table with 16 points from seven games following their 3-1 win against Southampton at Stamford Bridge.
