Why Tuchel wouldn’t bother about Timo Werner’s injury – Joe Cole

Joe Cole, a former Chelsea midfielder, believes Thomas Tuchel will be unconcerned with Timo Werner’s injury.

Kai Havertz and Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to the Englishman, will step up and cover for both Romelu Lukaku and Werner, who were both injured during Chelsea’s 4-0 Champions League triumph over Malmo yesterday night.

Lukaku twisted his ankle in the penalty area after a harsh challenge from Malmo defender Lasse Nielsen, while Werner went down holding his right hamstring.

Tuchel told reporters that both players will be out for ‘a few days,’ and Cole is certain that Havertz and Hudson-Odoi, who came in for Werner and Lukaku against the Swedish champions, will be able to establish their worth.

Chelsea takes on Norwich on Saturday, before facing Southampton and Newcastle the following day.

“You don’t want to lose your two centre forwards at any time, but if you must, you want to lose them during that stretch of games.” He told BT Sport, “They’re extremely winnable games.”

“They’ve won games without Timo and Romelu, according to Tuchel. Can players like Kai Havertz and Callum Hudson-Odoi, who came on tonight and had a positive impact on the game, do it again on Saturday?

“All of a sudden, you’re looking around and you don’t have to wait for Timo to return; the manager isn’t bugging the physio about when he’ll be back because you’re winning games and people are stepping up.”
