Woman lynched after killing two neighbours in Osun

Police arrest two suspected bank fraudsters in Jigawa

Esther Adu, a lady suspected of being mentally ill, was killed by a mob in Ita Balogun, Ilesha, Osun State, for allegedly murdering two of her neighbors.

According to Punch Metro, the event, which occurred on Saturday, caused chaos in the region.

The deceased have been identified as Ojuolape Olojo, 90, and Samson Sunday, 70.

Another neighbor, Disu Olaleye, 70, was allegedly gravely hurt by the woman, who was armed with a machete.

Olaleye was brought to a private hospital in the Ijofi district of Ilesha, according to a witness who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

He stated that after learning that Adu had killed her neighbors, a swarm of villagers seized her and set her ablaze before the police arrived.

“The crowd lynched her once she was overwhelmed. “A police van arrived later and removed her remains,” the person claimed.

Yemisi Opalola, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the occurrence.

“Fifty-five-year-old Esther Adu, who was regarded to be insane, attacked and killed Ojuolape Olojo, a 90-year-old woman, and Sunday Samson, 70, who lived in the same house with her,” she claimed.

“The third individual, Disu Olaleye, a 70-year-old Ita Balogun resident, was not killed. He was rushed to a private hospital in Ijofi, where he is presently undergoing treatment. The region has returned to normalcy, and the incident is still being investigated.”
