Niger State Governor, Alh Abubakar Sani Bello, has urged Nigerians to assist the Nigerian Army by providing vital information in tackling the country’s numerous security concerns.

During a courtesy visit to Government House Minna by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen. Faruk Yahaya, Bello made the request.

“This is the only country we have,” the Governor explained, “and we must work together to protect it.”

“While we pray for a peaceful environment, we must also regard all security agents as our allies and partners in this struggle; this will not go on indefinitely; it will finish one day, and we will have a better country for future generations.”

He praised the 22nd COAS’ efforts to restore peace in the country, while affirming the State government’s readiness to assist security agencies in maintaining their morale in the state.

“Even though you assumed office at a critical and hard time for the country, I am optimistic that the COAS is capable of giving the requisite leadership and support towards achieving the desired peace in Niger State and the country,” he told the Army Security Chief.

Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff, had previously reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to addressing the country’s security situation.

The COAS said that the military was already training some of its troops to increase security and manpower, while thanking Governor Bello for his support and assistance to guaranteeing the success of his personnel’s operations in the state.

“I am in the State for a conference and as part of my operational visit to military units across the country, as well as to determine a path forward in the battle against insurgency and banditry in the country,” Lt. Gen Yahaya added.
