Jigawa court free man accused of killing friend

The Jigawa State on Tuesday High Court of Justice in Birnin Kudu, the state’s Birnin Kudu Local Government Area, released and acquitted one Abubakar Garba, who was accused of killing his companion.

In 2018, the accused was charged with using an axe to inflict serious injury to one Abubakar Juli (dead), which resulted in his death.

The event occurred in the Buji Local Government’s Maduba Fulani Settlement, where he was apprehended and charged in court.

The prosecution presented two witnesses and materials to prove their case, while the defendant testified as a witness in his own defense.

Honourable Justice Musa Ubale, who delivered the judgment, stated that the crime of culpable homicide is punishable by death under Section 221 (b) of the Jigawa State Penal Code Laws of 2012.

He claimed that the prosecution’s case was not proven beyond a reasonable doubt, and that the defendant was therefore released and acquitted.
