Sani Dangote, the younger brother of Africa’s richest man, has died after a long illness in the United States.


Sources close to the brothers say he died Sunday after battling cancer at Cleveland Hospital, Weston, Miami, Florida, in the United States.

Sani is an entrepreneur who has spent over 30 years in the manufacturing, farming, oil and lime industries.

He also served as vice-president of African Gum Arabic, and twice as president of the Lagos Polo Club in addition to being a professional polo player.

He is best known for his position as chairman of Dansa Holdings, a Dangote lemonade division.

He also served on the board of several companies including Nigerian Textile, a candy company, Dangote Textiles, an insurance company, and Dangote Farms.

He is also a well-known entrepreneur and a member of several business groups.
