Authorities say a creep choked and attempted to rape a 30-year-old woman on a Greenwich Village sidewalk early Sunday morning, but fled after she fought back.
According to a criminal complaint, Obafemi Crosland, 28, reportedly assaulted the woman on Sixth Avenue at West 13th Street, pressing her up against the wall and placing his fingers around her neck.

According to the complaint, the defendant then violently touched the woman and attempted to pull her trousers down.

According to the court documents, the woman resisted with her attacker, yelled for aid, and bit the man’s hand.
According to authorities, the suspect escaped and was apprehended nearby.
He was charged with attempted rape, sexual abuse and strangulation.
Crosland was held on $10,000 bail at his arraignment.
