Bode George, an elder statesman and chieftain of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has slammed Bayo Onanuga, the president-spokesman, elect’s for his anti-Igbo remarks.
George expressed surprise that Onanuga is speaking for Tinubu after the APC chieftain made some derogatory and inciting comments on social media, which he described as hate speech, and added that the APC chieftain is not even from Lagos.
Following the conclusion of Lagos State’s governorship election on Saturday, Onanuga warned Igbos against “interfering” in state politics.
He believes that 2023 will be the last time Igbos get involved in Lagos politics, and that the state belongs to Yoruba.
George stated on Arise TV on Tuesday morning,
“…I called this existential madness.” He is not even from Lagos, according to Bayo Onanuga. He traveled from Ijebu. I suggested that they bring him before the International Court of Justice for hate speech.
“And he wishes to accompany the gentle man [Tinubu] to the Villa.” How are you going to collaborate with the Igbos and the rest of Nigeria’s tribes? What you will not tolerate, do not inflict on others. I’m surprised he still speaks for the alleged candidate. It’s never happened before.
“What is the point of lowering our standards and degrading ourselves?” Making such a public statement and refusing to apologize.
“They should take him to the international competition.”
court of justice for hate speech because when it starts we don’t know how it will end. We either live together as human beings or we go to the animal kingdom.”
