Ondo State Police Command announced on Saturday that a man named Sunday had been detained in relation to the death of an 80-year-old woman in the state.
The elderly woman’s body was discovered inside her farm in the Costain axis of the local government after it was thought that she had been raped by her attackers before they killed her.
The deceased had been missing since last Wednesday, when she failed to return home after leaving her farm. Before her body was found, she had been reported missing.
The victim was allegedly raped to death, according to the Daily Post, particularly given the position in which her body was found.

She claimed that there had been rape cases in the neighborhood recently, which had discouraged the majority of the women from visiting the farm alone.
The source added that some youths had detained a suspect named Sunday after discovering the deceased elderly woman’s cellphone on him. Sunday is a well-known palm wine tapper in the neighborhood.
The victim was allegedly attacked and killed by presumed herders, as the suspect admitted to during questioning.
The suspect has, nonetheless, been given to the Costain police for further investigation.
Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect was already in the police system.
