President Muhammadu Buhari’s assistant, Garba Shehu, revealed on Sunday that his boss’s recent apology to Nigerians does not suggest wrongdoing.
Recall that President Buhari recently asked Nigerians for forgiveness and offered an apology for the government’s actions and inactions.
Shehu revealed this information, however, while discussing Buhari’s accomplishments after eight years in office in an interview with Channels Television.
Adding that Buhari is happy with his accomplishments, he insisted that the President has performed exceptionally well.
“The President is content. As best as he could given the circumstances, he has performed exceptionally well. He is content to return home so that the next president can build and contribute.
based on the foundations he established, Shehu said.
He added that the President’s apology does not imply that any wrongdoing has been admitted.
“Eggs cannot be walked on without being broken. It is not at all conceivable. Therefore, President Muhammadu Buhari’s apology did not signify an admission of guilt on his part, he continued.
Buhari may have unintentionally offended some people, Shehu said, but he is not a malicious person, and his decision to apologize shows accountability.
Regarding security, Shehu argued that Buhari has made progress against the Boko Haram insurgents and that the military is now better prepared to handle the nation’s security issues.
“The Army has acquired so much technology, including drones. As a result, President Muhammadu Buhari is in office. will be appreciated, if not now, [it will be] later,” Shehu stated.
