Tinubu Funding Peter Obi’s Presidential Campaign: Pat Utomi Clarifies

The President-elect, Bola Tinubu, did not sponsor the election of Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, according to political economist Pat Utomi.

In the run-up to the general elections in 2023, Tinubu allegedly asked Utomi to resign in favor of Peter Obi, according to Tawfiq Akinwale, an LP candidate in Oyo State.

Utomi, however, referred to the accusation as false information against him.

In a tweet, Utomi stated:

I would immediately withdraw the money I paid an international PR agency in 2007 at his urging for a campaign akin to the Orange revolution to end the third term if I ever received any money from BAT.

“With regard to funding PO, I’m in awe of this misinformation.

“I even turned to ODs to fund my own activities in support of the campaign for faith in saving Nigeria because the outpouring of resources from citizens in support groups and PO’s prudent draw on his own purse was so humbling.”
