If he wins the 2024 election, former U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed to ban Nigerians and other illegal immigrants from obtaining citizenship for their children born in the country starting on “day one” of taking office.
Trump asserted in a statement on May 31 that it was “not working” for the constitution to guarantee citizenship to anyone born on American soil, regardless of their parents’ immigration status.
As part of my plan to secure the border, I’ll sign an executive order on the first day of my new term in office to make it clear to federal agencies that going forward, under the proper interpretation of the law, the future children of illegal immigrants aliens will not receive automatic U.S. citizenship.
