The police in Bauchi State have detained a 33-year-old man on suspicion of raping a 10-year-old child in Nasaru village, Ningi Local Government Area.
According to reports, the culprit used a lemon drink that was spiked with alcohol to entice the child.
She allegedly fell unconscious as a result of the suspect forcing himself to have sex with her.
The event was confirmed in a statement released on Friday by Ahmed Wakil, the police public relations officer for the Bauchi State Command.
Police Superintendent Wakil remarked,
“On May 25, 2023, around 12.33pm, one Abubakar Garba Yahua, reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Ningi, that on the same date, around 11.41am, one Danladi Ibrahim, 33, deceitfully gave his daughter, Nadiya (not real name) aged 10, a lemon drink suspected to have been mixed with an intoxicant, which led her to her being unconscious as he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her. The woman bled and had severe internal bleeding injuries to her private parts as a result.
“A team of detectives dispatched to the location as soon as they received the report, under the direction of the DPO, and evacuated the victim to the General Hospital, Ningi, for immediate medical assistance.
The National Obstetrics Fistula Centre, Ningi, Ningi LGA, Bauchi State, was afterwards referred to the victim. She was then advised to seek more medical care at the Federal Medical Center in Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State.
“Danladi Ibrahim, the suspect, was taken into custody. The suspect voluntarily admitted to having committed the crime while being questioned. The inquiry is still ongoing, and charges will be filed afterward.
