Liverpool have agreed in principle to trade captain Jordan Henderson to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq for £12 million plus add-ons.
Henderson accompanied Liverpool to Germany for a training camp but did not play in their 4-2 friendly win over Karlsruher.
The England midfielder, 33, has two years left on his Anfield contract.
Steven Gerrard, a former Liverpool captain, was recently appointed manager of Al-Ettifaq.
The agreement for Henderson comes after Liverpool turned down a £40 million bid from Al-Ittihad for fellow midfielder Fabinho last Friday.
