The Federal Government (FG) of Nigeria is eager to help Google, the worldwide technology giant, create one million digital jobs in Nigeria, according to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The President made the offer on Friday in Abuja, at a meeting with Google News Vice President Richard Gingras.
When a Google executive visited Nigeria, Tinubu reassured him that the country’s youth were both creative and talented, as well as eager and driven to learn.
I’m happy that Google is willing to work with us. You have responded to our request for assistance with digital innovation and young people.
You’re helping us spread the word about the benefits of the digital economy. We’re eager to assist you in fulfilling your promise to bring 1 million digital employment to Nigeria.
We will provide you with everything you need to successfully implement your CSR initiatives. “We have begun our economic reforms, however tortuous they may be,” Tinubu was reported as saying in a statement released by Dele Alake, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy.
In response to Google’s defense of free expression, press freedom, and democracy on its platforms, Tinubu proclaimed that protecting these rights is vital to the public good.
Maintaining a free press and an open forum for public discourse is in the public interest. He affirmed the group’s dedication to upholding the ideals of a free society.
As for Gingras, he recently met with Tinubu and conveyed his company’s eagerness to assist the Nigerian government and its keen interest in the country.
