The Borno State Government initiated a significant food and non-food palliative distribution on Monday to minimize the impact of the elimination of the fuel subsidy.
During the flag-off event in Maiduguri’s Muna garage area, State Governor Babagana Zulum stated that the effort was aimed at 300,000 households of six members each, or nearly 1.8 million people.
According to Zulum, the campaign was launched in reaction to the recent economic challenges caused by the reduction of petroleum product subsidies.
“We are doing this food distribution in accordance with the federal government’s rolled-out palliative meant to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on vulnerable citizens,” he explained.
