Josko Gvardiol, a Croatian central defender, has officially joined Manchester City from RB Leipzig on a five-year, 90 million euro (around £77 million) contract.
After Manchester United’s 2019 signing of Harry Maguire from Leicester City for £80 million, he becomes the second most expensive defender in history.
Gvardiol, now 21, has been a standout for Leipzig since joining the club in July 2021 from Dynamo Zagreb.
Saying, “I have always dreamed of one day playing in England,” he eventually realized his goal.
“After the season they just had, it’s an honor for me to be doing this with Manchester City.”
