The decision of Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to sign with Real Madrid was confirmed by Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.
After losing Yann Sommer to Inter Milan, the Bundesliga champions were eager to replace him with Kepa.
Nonetheless, Madrid stepped in at the eleventh hour after Thibaut Courtois tore his ACL and will take the Spanish goalkeeper on loan for a year.
Dreesen has recently stated that a deal for Kepa was imminent.
We were quite close to finalizing this arrangement, and we had planned to introduce Kepa today. In spite of this, he signed with Real Madrid.
“He’s Spanish, and so Kepa wanted to accept Real’s proposal,” Dreesen explained.
