Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has placed Olaiya Atibioke, the Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Home Affairs, on a two-week suspension.
According to Information Nigeria’s sources, Atibioke was suspended after he abruptly left on Saturday the Bishop Adetiloye Hall, Trade Fair Complex, Ado-Ekiti, site of a three-day retreat for members of the State Executive Council and Permanent Secretaries.
The Governor’s Special Adviser (Media), Yinka Oyebode, released a statement saying that the Commissioner had departed the retreat without permission.
When the new Commissioners were asked to sign a performance charter, he was likewise absent.
The Commissioner sneaked out of the retreat. During the signing of the performance charter, he “was nowhere to be found,” he said.
Sitting through all of the sessions of the three-day retreat that began on Thursday, Governor Oyebanji reaffirmed his administration’s zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline and poor performance.
Atibioke, the Commissioner, was just sworn in alongside his colleagues.
