Moises Caicedo, a midfielder for Brighton, has agreed to join Chelsea for a British record fee of £115 million.
On Friday, Liverpool and the 21-year-old Ecuadorian footballer agreed to a £111 million transfer fee.
However, Caicedo prefers Chelsea, and after having numerous offers rejected by Brighton this summer, Chelsea has finally prevailed with a bid.
After spending £107 million for Argentine player Enzo Fernandez in January, Chelsea has now set a new British record with this transfer sum.
Brighton’s season-opening triumph against Luton Town was without Caicedo, who has yet to undergo a medical.
Brighton have reportedly agreed a sell-on option and an initial fee of £100m, with the potential for subsequent payments of up to £50m.
