Rio Ferdinand, a Manchester United veteran, has come to Mason Mount’s defense after the England midfielder failed in his debuts against Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur.
If Jonny Evans accepts a contract with Manchester United, Ferdinand said he will be the starting center defender instead of Harry Maguire.
You may recall that Mount struggled in Man United’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham last Saturday.
Although the squad has had a rough start to the season, Ferdinand is not ready to pass judgment on the former Chelsea player.
To paraphrase Ferdinand’s comments on the most recent episode of his Vibe with FIVE YouTube show: “If Jonny Evans signs he [Maguire] is behind Jonny Evans I reckon.”
Ferdinand elaborated on Mount, saying, “You can’t judge a man after two games, you can’t, because there’d be players who became legends who would not have been legends if they’d been judged after two games and told to get out.”
